An impressive response is not an operating model. A useful agent should be judged by the ordinary days: incomplete context, expired credentials, ambiguous requests, service interruptions, and decisions that require a person.

Current capability over roadmap language

Ask what works now, on which channel, and under what conditions. Treat future integrations as future integrations.

Permission scope over feature count

The key question is not how many tools exist. It is which actions the agent can take and how those actions are constrained.

Review paths over “full autonomy”

Consequential work needs clear approval, correction, and escalation paths. Human review is part of the product design.

Operational ownership over setup speed

Someone owns updates, credentials, usage, failures, and support. Determine whether that person is you or a service provider.
